Editorials, also called opinion pieces, are the places in a newspaper or magazine where the writer expresses a personal opinion. Usually, a newspaper article reports facts, and tries to give a balanced view of both sides of any issue. An editorial is the place where a journalist is allowed to really say what they think, preferably based on good research of the facts. This is why writing an opinon piece can be satisfying, as it combines knowing what you are talking about and informing people of facts, while at the same time having the freedom to say which side of an argument you actually agree with and why.
